His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, has responded favorably to an invitation from U.S. President Donald J. Trump to become a Founding Member of the Peace Council, an international initiative aimed at contributing to peace efforts in the Middle East and promoting a new global approach to conflict resolution.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, the invitation was extended to His Majesty in His capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and reflects the high regard in which the Sovereign is held on the international stage.
Recognition of Morocco’s Role as a Peace Actor
Participation in the Peace Council is reserved for a select group of world leaders recognized for their international stature and commitment to building a secure and prosperous future for coming generations. The Ministry noted that this invitation constitutes a clear recognition of the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King and His standing as a key and credible actor in global peace efforts.
The invitation also underscores the confidence placed in the Sovereign by the President of the United States and by the broader international community.
Morocco to Ratify the Council’s Founding Charter
While commending President Trump’s vision and engagement in promoting peace, His Majesty the King has agreed to join the initiative. In this context, the Kingdom of Morocco will ratify the founding charter of the Peace Council.
The Council will take the legal form of an international organization, with the stated objective of promoting stability, restoring governance, and ensuring lasting peace in regions affected by or threatened by conflict. Its mandate will be grounded in practical cooperation, effective action, and results-oriented partnerships. Membership in the Council is granted exclusively by invitation from the President of the United States.
Support for New Peace Initiatives
The Kingdom of Morocco also welcomed the announcement of the launch of the second phase of President Trump’s global peace plan, as well as the official creation of a National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, designed as a temporary transitional body.
Morocco’s Enduring Commitment to Peace
Under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco reaffirmed its constant commitment to a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the Middle East. This commitment, the statement emphasized, remains firmly rooted in support for the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side in peace and security with Israel.
The announcement further reinforces Morocco’s longstanding diplomatic approach, which prioritizes dialogue, stability, and constructive international engagement in addressing global and regional challenges.
