Morocco’s National Social Security Fund (CNSS) has announced that many of the documents recently leaked on social media following a reported cyberattack are either false, inaccurate, or deliberately distorted.
In a press release issued Wednesday, the CNSS confirmed that its IT systems had been targeted by a series of cyberattacks aimed at bypassing its digital security infrastructure. The breach led to the unauthorized disclosure of certain data, the extent and origin of which are still under investigation.
“Initial checks on the leaked files show that a significant portion of them do not correspond to official records or have been manipulated,” the CNSS stated.
Upon detection of the breach, the CNSS said it immediately activated its cybersecurity response protocols, which included deploying corrective measures to contain the intrusion path and strengthen system defenses. The agency also mobilized additional resources to assess the precise nature and scope of the compromised data.
Emphasizing its commitment to protecting user confidentiality and personal data, the CNSS reported that an internal administrative investigation is ongoing. Additionally, the matter has been referred to the competent judicial authorities for further action.
The CNSS also issued a public warning, urging both citizens and media outlets to act responsibly and avoid sharing or disseminating leaked or falsified information.
“Such actions could have legal consequences,” the agency warned.
The cyberattack and subsequent leak have sparked concerns about digital security in public institutions, as well as the spread of misinformation online. Authorities are expected to release more updates as the investigation progresses.
