Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security, known as the DGSN, marked its 70th anniversary with a series of ceremonies and public events across the Kingdom, highlighting the institution’s modernization efforts, technological advancements, and commitment to public safety.
The celebrations took place in several Moroccan cities and brought together senior security officials, government representatives, civil society figures, and members of the public. The anniversary served as an opportunity to showcase the evolution of Morocco’s national police force since its establishment in 1956.
Officials emphasized the DGSN’s growing focus on digital transformation and modern policing methods. Over the years, the agency has expanded the use of advanced surveillance systems, cybersecurity units, forensic technologies, and digital services aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening national security.
Public exhibitions organized during the celebrations featured demonstrations by specialized police units, including counterterrorism teams, forensic investigators, canine brigades, and traffic safety divisions. Visitors were also introduced to new technologies used in criminal investigations and emergency response operations.
The DGSN highlighted its efforts to modernize citizen services through online platforms and smart identification systems designed to simplify administrative procedures and improve accessibility for the public. Security officials said modernization remains a key pillar of Morocco’s broader strategy to strengthen institutional performance and public trust.
During official speeches marking the anniversary, leaders praised the role of Moroccan security forces in maintaining stability and combating organized crime, terrorism, cybercrime, and illegal trafficking networks. They also stressed the importance of continued investment in training and international cooperation.
The anniversary comes as Morocco continues to position itself as a regional leader in security cooperation, particularly in areas related to intelligence sharing, border security, and counterterrorism efforts with European, African, and international partners.
Founded shortly after Morocco’s independence, the DGSN has grown into one of the country’s central security institutions, playing a major role in maintaining public order and supporting national security initiatives throughout the Kingdom.
