King Mohammed VI Declares October 31 as ‘Aid Al Wahda’ – A National Day of Unity

Rabat, November 4, 2025

The Royal Office has issued a statement announcing that His Majesty King Mohammed VI has proclaimed October 31 of each year as a new national holiday, to be known as “Aid Al Wahda” (Unity Day).

This royal decision comes in light of the “historic turning point” in the national Cause, following the significant developments brought about by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797/2025, as referenced in the recent Royal Speech delivered by His Majesty to the Moroccan people.

The statement emphasized that Unity Day will symbolize Morocco’s enduring commitment to national cohesion and territorial integrity, serving as an annual occasion for citizens to reaffirm their attachment to the Kingdom’s sacred values and legitimate rights. The day will also coincide with the Royal Pardon, traditionally granted by His Majesty on major national occasions.

In the same statement, it was announced that the Royal Speech will henceforth be delivered on two key occasions each year:

1. Throne Day, marking the anniversary of His Majesty’s accession to the throne; and

2. The opening of the Parliament.

Nonetheless, the Royal Office affirmed that the King, as Commander of the Faithful and Head of State, retains the prerogative to address the nation whenever He deems appropriate.

Finally, the Royal Office confirmed that preparations for the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Green March will proceed as planned, though no Royal Speech will be delivered on that occasion.

The proclamation of Aid Al Wahda stands as a new symbol of national pride and unity, reflecting Morocco’s steadfast resolve and collective spirit in defending its sovereignty and shared destiny.
