The surgery was necessitated following an injury sustained during a routine sporting activity.

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, His Majesty suffered a fall that resulted in a fracture to the humerus of His left shoulder. After a thorough medical evaluation, the decision was made to proceed with surgery to address the injury. The surgical procedure was performed by a distinguished team of medical experts:
- Professor Belyamani Lahcen, personal physician of His Majesty the King

- Professor Bouabid Salim
- Professor Benchekroun Mohammed
The team, comprised of traumatology specialists from the Mohammed V Military Training Hospital in Rabat, reported that the operation was a success.
Following the surgery, His Majesty’s left shoulder will remain immobilized for a period of 45 days. This will be followed by a structured period of functional rehabilitation to ensure a full recovery.
