From May 14 to 22, 2024, a delegation from the Sahrawi Movement for Peace (MSP) conducted a work visit to Argentina and Paraguay, focusing on promoting peace and constructive dialogue to resolve the Moroccan Sahara conflict.
In Argentina, the event received extensive coverage from the Argentine press, highlighting the peace-oriented speeches of MSP’s First Secretary, Haj Ahmed Barikallah. Barikallah advocated for dialogue as a means to end the suffering of the Sahrawi population in the Tindouf camps. On May 18, Haj Ahmed Barikallah and the MSP’s head of international relations were invited to the Argentine radio show “Picaditas del Sábado,” hosted by Maria Esther Álvarez. During the broadcast, Haj Ahmed presented the Sahrawi Movement for Peace as a peaceful alternative to the Polisario, urging conflicting parties to engage in constructive political dialogue. He also described the dire humanitarian situation in the camps, emphasizing that peaceful negotiation with Morocco is the only viable solution to the conflict, firmly rejecting the option of war.
Following their visit to Argentina, the MSP delegation continued their tour in Paraguay. Here, they engaged with a distinguished audience at the Institute of Higher Strategic Studies of the National Defense Council. This audience included vice-ministers, senior officers of the Armed Forces and National Police, as well as military attachés from various Paraguayan embassies and diplomatic representations. In Paraguay, Haj Ahmed Barikallah’s message of peace and dialogue resonated strongly. In recognition of his contributions and participation, the Institute of Higher Strategic Studies awarded him a certificate of recognition, underscoring the importance of his mission and the broader goals of the MSP.
The visit to both countries underscored the MSP’s commitment to seeking peaceful resolutions and fostering international support for their cause through constructive dialogue and international engagement.
