RABAT, July 29, 2026 — On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of his accession to the Throne, His Majesty King Mohammed VI delivered a landmark Throne Day address, presenting a confident assessment of Morocco’s progress while outlining an ambitious vision for the Kingdom’s future. The speech emphasized economic growth, national sovereignty, social development, and Morocco’s growing influence on the international stage.
Addressing the Moroccan people, King Mohammed VI reflected on nearly three decades of leadership, stressing that his primary mission has always been to serve the nation and improve the lives of all Moroccans rather than seek personal recognition or international prestige.
“My only concern has always been to fulfill the responsibility entrusted to me by serving you and ensuring that all Moroccans can live in dignity as free citizens,” the Sovereign declared.
A Nation Built on Stability
The King described Morocco as entering a decisive stage in its development, highlighting political stability, institutional strength, and national security as the country’s greatest assets in an increasingly turbulent regional and global environment.
He noted that while many nations continue to grapple with political instability and economic uncertainty, Morocco has succeeded in maintaining effective public institutions and social cohesion—factors that have become key drivers of sustainable development.
According to the King, stability has become “the strategic capital” that enables Morocco to continue attracting investment, expanding infrastructure, and strengthening its international partnerships.
Strong Economic Performance
King Mohammed VI pointed to Morocco’s impressive economic indicators as evidence of the country’s resilience and sound strategic planning.
Morocco recorded economic growth of approximately 4.9 percent in 2025, with similar or even stronger performance expected in 2026.
The Sovereign highlighted several sectors fueling the country’s expansion:
- Automotive manufacturing
- Aerospace industries
- Renewable energy
- Food processing
- Tourism
- Financial services
One of the speech’s most significant announcements was Morocco’s continued rise as Africa’s largest automobile exporter, with annual production approaching one million vehicles.
Today, the automotive and aerospace industries account for more than 40 percent of Morocco’s total exports, surpassing even the country’s traditionally dominant phosphate sector.
The King also emphasized the launch of new industrial projects that position Morocco among the select group of countries capable of manufacturing aircraft engines and landing systems.
Green Energy and Industrial Sovereignty
Looking toward the future, the Monarch underscored Morocco’s commitment to renewable energy and technological innovation.
Major projects are currently underway to transform renewable energy into a cornerstone of Morocco’s energy security while making the Kingdom an attractive destination for industries seeking competitive, low-carbon energy sources.
The King also highlighted progress in Morocco’s Green Hydrogen Initiative, announcing that implementation has officially begun through the approval of the first group of large-scale investment projects.
He stressed that strengthening industrial sovereignty has become even more important amid global supply-chain disruptions and rising protectionism.
Morocco’s food and pharmaceutical industries now satisfy nearly 80 percent of domestic demand, significantly enhancing the country’s strategic autonomy.
Defense and Cybersecurity Expansion
For the first time, the King placed particular emphasis on developing Morocco’s defense and cybersecurity industries.
He announced that the gradual establishment of a national industrial and technological base in these strategic sectors will reinforce Morocco’s defense capabilities while creating new opportunities for economic growth and innovation.
Record-Breaking Tourism
Tourism also reached historic levels in 2025.
Nearly 20 million visitors, including members of the Moroccan diaspora, traveled to the Kingdom, marking the strongest tourism performance in the country’s history.
The King described the achievement as another indication of Morocco’s growing global appeal and confidence among international travelers.
Social Development Remains a Priority
While celebrating economic achievements, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed that development must ultimately improve the daily lives of citizens.
He reiterated the importance of expanding social protection, promoting balanced regional development, and ensuring that every region benefits from national progress.
The Monarch also called on Morocco’s financial sector to increase support for small and medium-sized enterprises, innovation, industrialization, exports, and entrepreneurship.
He urged banks and financial institutions to mobilize domestic savings more effectively to finance the country’s next phase of development.
Morocco’s Growing International Role
The Throne Day address also highlighted Morocco’s expanding diplomatic influence.
King Mohammed VI said the Kingdom has become a respected and credible international actor capable of building balanced partnerships based on mutual trust and shared interests.
Rather than relying on traditional alliances alone, Morocco continues to diversify its international partnerships, strengthening cooperation across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.

With parliamentary elections approaching, King Mohammed VI expressed hope that the next government will preserve the country’s achievements while accelerating major reforms and strategic development projects.

Tribute to Morocco’s Security Forces
Concluding his address, the King paid tribute to the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, National Security, Auxiliary Forces, Civil Protection, and territorial authorities for their unwavering dedication to safeguarding Morocco’s unity, security, and stability.
He also honored the memory of the late King Mohammed V and the late King Hassan II, whose leadership laid the foundations for the modern Moroccan state.
