Washington, January 29, 2025 – A tragic mid-air collision over Washington state has left multiple people missing, including members of the U.S. ice skating team, authorities confirmed.
The crash involved two small aircraft that collided in midair before plummeting into a remote wooded area. Search and rescue operations are currently underway, but officials fear that harsh weather conditions and difficult terrain may complicate recovery efforts.
According to preliminary reports, one of the planes was carrying several members of the national ice skating team, who were traveling for a training event. The identities of the missing athletes have not yet been released.
“The entire skating community is in shock,” a spokesperson for U.S. Figure Skating said. “We are hoping for the best and praying for everyone affected by this devastating accident.”
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of mechanical failure or pilot error.
Emergency responders are urging the public to avoid the crash site while search teams work tirelessly to locate survivors. More updates are expected as the investigation unfolds.
