The Dominican Republic has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara, and has expressed its favorable consideration for the establishment of a Dominican consulate in Dakhla.
In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, the Dominican Minister of External Relations, Roberto Alvarez, conveyed the position of His Excellency Mr. Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic, to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The Dominican Republic reiterated its “absolute recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara,” highlighting its favorable consideration for opening a Dominican consulate in the city of Dakhla.
Moreover, the Dominican Republic firmly supports the autonomy initiative presented by the Kingdom of Morocco in 2007, considering it a realistic, credible, and serious solution to reach a negotiated agreement between the involved parties.
In an effort to further strengthen political, commercial, and cooperation ties between the two nations, President Luis Abinader expressed his desire to conduct a state visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
This reaffirmation of support from the Dominican Republic signifies the growing bilateral relationship between the two countries and underlines their shared commitment to resolving regional issues through diplomacy and constructive dialogue.
