Morocco Mobilizes Nationwide Support to Restore Flood-Stricken Communities in Safi

Acting on the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan government has launched an extensive recovery and rehabilitation initiative for neighborhoods affected by the severe flooding that hit the city of Safi on Sunday, December 14, 2025. The floods followed unusually intense rainfall, resulting in loss of life and widespread damage to homes, infrastructure, and essential public facilities.

According to a statement from the Head of Government’s department, the program forms part of a comprehensive and coordinated response designed to ensure swift intervention and address the urgent needs of the affected population. The initiative reflects the constant concern shown by His Majesty the King for citizens in times of hardship, with a strong emphasis on providing support, protection, and dignified living conditions.

The recovery plan includes a set of immediate measures aimed at alleviating the social and economic impact of the disaster. Emergency assistance will be granted to families who lost personal belongings, while damaged homes will undergo restoration and rehabilitation works. In addition, affected commercial premises will be rebuilt, repaired, or renovated, with dedicated support extended to business owners to help revive local economic activity.
