Rabat, May 15, 2025 — Under the majestic dome of the Royal Theater in Rabat, a new chapter in Morocco’s cultural legacy was written as Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa chaired the inaugural Board of Directors meeting of the Royal Theater of Rabat Foundation. In a moment steeped in both tradition and ambition, HRH was accompanied by Brigitte Macron, spouse of the President of the French Republic, adding international resonance to the historic occasion.
A symbol of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s enlightened vision, the Royal Theater of Rabat is more than a stage—it is a beacon of the Kingdom’s enduring commitment to the arts, dialogue, and creative expression. With its foundation now officially in motion, the institution aims to become a landmark for cultural convergence not only in Morocco but across the Mediterranean and beyond.
The Board, a distinguished assembly of global and regional luminaries, reflects the theater’s ambition to weave together diverse perspectives and talents. Among its members are Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Al Thani, an art visionary from Qatar; Othman Benjelloun, one of Morocco’s leading businessmen; and acclaimed comedian Gad Elmaleh, bridging art and public engagement. The presence of prominent figures such as Makhtar Diop of the International Finance Corporation and Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, founder of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation, further affirms the foundation’s wide-reaching cultural mission.
HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa opened the session with a call to nurture the soul of the nation through culture. She emphasized the theater’s role in education, innovation, and heritage preservation, setting the tone for a strategic vision that will guide the institution’s future.
As the Board embarks on its journey, the Royal Theater of Rabat is poised to become not only a stage for performance but also a platform for diplomacy, diversity, and dialogue—where Morocco’s rich artistic heritage meets the world.
