His Majesty King Mohammed VI welcomed on Monday, at the Royal Palace in Rabat, the foreign ministers of the three member states of the Sahel States Alliance: Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré of Burkina Faso, Abdoulaye Diop of Mali, and Bakary Yaou Sangaré of Niger.
This high-level meeting reflects the Kingdom of Morocco’s deep and enduring bonds with the three Sahel nations, built on a foundation of genuine friendship, mutual respect, active solidarity, and successful cooperation over the years.
During the audience, the foreign ministers expressed to His Majesty the appreciation of their respective Heads of State for his unwavering commitment to the Sahel region. They highlighted the positive impact of the King’s initiatives and development programs aimed at boosting the economic and social growth of Sahelian countries and improving the lives of their populations.
Special praise was given to the Royal Initiative designed to facilitate Sahelian countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean, an effort seen as a major step towards enhancing regional trade and integration. The ministers reiterated their full support for the initiative and their determination to work toward its swift realization.
The delegation also briefed King Mohammed VI on the latest developments regarding the institutional and operational strengthening of the Alliance of Sahel States, a strategic framework created to foster deeper cooperation and integration between the three nations.
