In addition to this, on the same national occasion, His Majesty the King has graciously extended his pardon to 4,831 individuals involved in cases related to cannabis cultivation, provided they meet the necessary conditions. This royal solicitude, beyond its humanitarian dimensions, is intended to help integrate the beneficiaries into the new national strategy overseen by the concerned provinces. This strategy is guided by the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis-Related Activities and aims to impact economic and social levels through the industrialization, processing, export of cannabis, and import of its products for medical, pharmaceutical, and industrial purposes. It also contributes to the development of alternative crops and non-agricultural activities.
Royal pardons in Morocco are customary on national and religious holidays and serve multiple purposes. They aim to improve the living conditions of farmers, promote the spirit of tolerance and reconciliation within Moroccan society, and provide a new opportunity for reintegration. This act of grace underscores the values of forgiveness and tolerance, which are central to the reign of His Majesty the King.
The benefits of this initiative are far-reaching, including the social reintegration of farmers, improvement of their incomes, establishment of sustainable practices, and development of the regions concerned. It also protects farmers from legal proceedings and the risks associated with violence and precariousness.
This initiative reflects the wisdom and foresight of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, offering a unique solution that reinforces the Kingdom’s comprehensive approach. It aims to free farmers from the influence of traffickers by providing them with an income-generating activity, thereby strengthening national cohesion and improving the relationship between citizens and the state.
