Morocco has reiterated its profound concern and deep indignation over the recent intensification of military actions and the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, expressed its distress about the ongoing hostilities that continue to take a devastating toll on civilians, particularly children and women.
Over three weeks since the outbreak of military clashes, civilians continue to be targeted, resulting in thousands of casualties and tens of thousands injured, homeless, and missing. The statement further highlights that places of worship, hospitals, and refugee camps continue to be subjected to bombings, with the latest incident being the shelling of Jabalya camp.
The ministry also reports an increasing number of missile and artillery strikes targeting civilian infrastructure indiscriminately. These attacks have forced over a million people to flee, deprived the population of basic necessities like water, electricity, and fuel, and created a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
The Kingdom of Morocco strongly condemns these Israeli escalations, emphasizing that they violate international humanitarian law and common human values. Morocco also warns of the potential expansion of the conflict within Palestinian territories and the dangerous widening of the violence to affect neighboring areas, thereby threatening the security and stability of the entire region.
Morocco expresses its sorrow and disappointment at the inaction of the international community, the failure of the Security Council to assume its responsibilities, and the inability of influential nations to put an end to this catastrophic situation.
While reaffirming its support for the Palestinian National Authority and its national institutions, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, the Kingdom of Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty the King, calls for a de-escalation leading to a ceasefire. It also advocates for the opening of humanitarian corridors to facilitate the swift and unimpeded delivery of aid, as well as the release of prisoners and detainees. Furthermore, Morocco emphasizes the necessity of creating a political perspective for the Palestinian issue, thereby reinvigorating the two-state solution as agreed upon by the international community.
The Kingdom of Morocco continues to stand by its commitment to peace, justice, and the well-being of the Palestinian people in their quest for a secure and prosperous future.
